Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Chair with frame in lacquered ash-wood. Straw seat or upholstered seat covered with fabric or leather.
History:
Designed in 1903 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. This chair was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. This chair was designed to be used in various locations thoughout the Willow Street Tearooms. It is Mackintosh's most successfull version of the traditional ladderback chair. This reproduction is as the chair was originally designed and produced for the Willow tearooms. However, after the chairs had been in use for a while, a reinforcement was added to the back of each chair behind the ladder. This reinforcement was added to the chairs in use in the tearoom and consequently, existing example all show this modification.
